Age Concern EnglandAge Concern cares about all older people and believes that later life should be fulfilling and enjoyable. But for too many people, this is impossible. Problems such as inadequate income and housing make the lives of older people a misery. Lack of accessible transport and shopping facilities can leave people housebound and isolated. Save the RhinoSave the Rhino International is a UK-registered charity that raises funds to: protect rhino populations and increase numbers in the wild; and to educate and find positive opportunities for impoverished communities living in areas of high biodiversity. Although global rhino numbers have dropped drastically in the past century (from around one million at the turn of the 19th century to fewer than 21,000 today) international conservation efforts can and do play an integral part in the successful recuperation of the species. International Childcare TrustWe are currently supporting organisations working with some of the world’s most vulnerable children in Kenya, Tanzania, India, Sri Lanka and Cambodia. Our partner organisations provide practical help and aid to children either through projects working directly with the children or through projects that assist their families. They take a preventative approach by working in secondary towns, cities or remote areas, where the opportunities for rehabilitation and reintegration of displaced children into society are greater than in major cities. The programme activities encompass children’s support centres; night shelters; psychosocial support; primary education; healthcare, vocational training in marketable skills and family tracing and mediation. Environmental Investigation AgencyThe EIA was established in 1984 to investigate, expose and campaign against the illegal trade in wildlife and the destruction of our natural environment. Working undercover to expose international environmental crime -such as the illegal trade in wildlife, illegal logging and trade in timber species, and the world-wide trade in ozone depleting substances - EIA has directly brought about changes in international laws and the policies of governments, saving the lives of millions of rare and endangered animals and putting a stop to the devastating effects of environmental criminals. Round Table Children's WishRound Table Children’s Wish is a registered charity that grants Wishes to children aged between 3-17 and who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses. The aim is to fulfil a child’s secret dream, whether it is to meet their own heroes and idols from the worlds of sport, television and popular music, or perhaps to give them the opportunity to swim with dolphins or have a ride in a sports car. For others, a visit to Disneyland with their family or the gift of a computer or playhouse may be their ideal Wish. View charity page |

Glad's HouseMany young children, some as young as 3 or 4 years old, in Mombasa, Kenya, are so poor they live on the streets. Life for them is a bleak struggle for survival, where drugs, alcohol and crime are often the only means of escape. They desperately need help. ‘Glad’s House’ is a young charity that aims to help these street children return to a ‘normal’ way of life. When we have raised sufficient funds we will be establishing Glad’s House, our own refuge in Mombasa. View charity page |
