Glad's House

Children and Youth

Many young children, some as young as 3 or 4 years old, in Mombasa, Kenya, are so poor they live on the streets.  Life for them is a bleak struggle for survival, where drugs, alcohol and crime are often the only means of escape.  They desperately need help. ‘Glad’s House’ is a young charity that aims to help these street children return to a ‘normal’ way of life. When we have raised sufficient funds we will be establishing Glad’s House, our own refuge in Mombasa.

International Childcare Trust

Children and Youth

We are currently supporting organisations working with some of the world’s most vulnerable children in Kenya, Tanzania, India, Sri Lanka and Cambodia. Our partner organisations provide practical help and aid to children either through projects working directly with the children or through projects that assist their families. They take a preventative approach by working in secondary towns, cities or remote areas, where the opportunities for rehabilitation and reintegration of displaced children into society are greater than in major cities. The programme activities encompass children’s support centres; night shelters; psychosocial support; primary education; healthcare, vocational training in marketable skills and family tracing and mediation.

The Childrens Society

Children and Youth

The Children's Society is a leading children's charity committed to making childhood better for all children in the UK. We take action to prevent, rescue and support children facing life trapped in a vicious circle of fear and harm; a vicious circle driven by violence, neglect, poverty and discrimination, which destroys childhood and wrecks community living. We give children the hope and confidence they need to face the future with optimism. We never turn away
