How it works - FAQ & Help
Rogavi is an exciting new way to help charities raise more money . It takes a proven method of fundraising - the charity raffle - and makes it work even better online.
Rest assured we respect your privacy to 100%, we will not send unsolicited emails to you.
The raffle How much off the raffle proceeds actually goes to the charity?Rogavi takes a standard fee of 20% of the proceeds for each raffle with no hidden fees added.
What do charities get for your fee?Rogavi acts as external lottery managers to the charities where we manage all aspects of the raffles under licence from the Gambling Commission. Included in this fee is; unlimited transactions, regulatory compliance, ticketing, accounting and lottery returns. Crucially we give charities the online marketing tools to promote their prizes with banners and emails.
Do you promote the raffles directly? We can help the charity to promote the raffle to new supporters. We work with publishers online who promote these in return for a marketing fee. Where a new donor is generated there is a 10% marketing fee.
Raffles and the LawBy law 20% must goes to the charity from all proceeds. As a comparison, the National Lottery returns 28% for good causes. With Rogavi, you are giving directly to the charities you want to support.
Licensed by the UK Gambling CommissionThe UK Gambling Commission is the regulatory body for casinos, bingo clubs, gaming machines, and the larger society and all local authority lotteries in Great Britain.
The Gambling Commission regulates gambling in the public interest. It does so by keeping crime out of gambling, by ensuring that gambling is conducted fairly and openly, and by protecting children and vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling. The Commission also provides independent advice to government on gambling in Britain.
How the raffle worksThere are two types of prize raffles, on target or by date. A target based raffle is where there are a fixed number of tickets available at a set cost. A raffle by date is where there is no target to be met but a date deadline is reached.
You can purchase as many tickets as you like for each raffle. When all the tickets have been purchased or the date deadline is reached then the winning ticket is determined by random number generator.
Likelihood of winningThe likelihood for each ticket is one divided by the number of tickets available. For example, if there are 100 tickets available for a particular prize each ticket has a 1 in 100 or 0.01 chance of winning. If you purchase multiple tickets in a raffle then your chances of winning increase. In the example above if you purchased 5 tickets you would have a 1 in 20 (5 in 100) or 0.05 chance of winning. If you purchase all the tickets available in a raffle then you are guaranteed to win that prize.
House edgeRogavi does not have a house edge as the chances of winning one of the prizes is exactly equal to the true odds. So if there are 100 tickets available each ticket has a 1 in 100 chance of winning.
Protection of Customer FundsAll funds from ticket sales are credited to a client account held with Barclays Bank PLC. When a raffle takes place proceeds are paid directly from this account to the charity.
At all times there is a separation between funds from ticket sales and Rogavi trading income. This is a key provision of Gambling Commissions license compliance and is there to protect you the user.

Donating a prize What type of prize can I donate? You can donate anything that you think people will want to win. Prizes offered in the past range from luxury holidays and football season tickets to iPods and signed books. Please make sure that any prizes offered are in good condition and that you guarantee that people will be able to take up the prize if they win. If there are any circumstances where the prize offered is not available after the draw then you should be able to offer something to the same value including cash as agreed with the winner.
How do I decide on my fundraising target? The amount of money you want to raise is largely up to you, as the money will be going to your chosen charity. A good guideline would be the monetary value of the item you are offering. So if you are offering a computer worth £300 then set your fundraising target at that. If your prize value is non-tangible then please use your judgement to set a value based on what you wish to raise.
How do I decide what figure I should set the ticket price at?The ticket prices should be set at an amount that you realistically think someone would pay to be in with a chance of winning that prize. For example if your prize donation has a high value or is in some way unique then you can set a higher ticket price. If your prize is of a lower value then the ticket price also needs to reflect that. Remember that you need to sell enough tickets to be able to reach your fundraising target too, so don't set ticket prices too high so that no one buys them, or too low so that not enough people buy them before the raffle deadline.
What should I include in my description? Please describe your item in as much detail as possible. You are using the description to sell tickets to people so the description needs to ensure that people will be interested enough in the item to want to be in with a chance of winning it.
Details to include are whether the item is new or used, how many people are eligible to take up the prize if it is an event, if there are any terms and conditions attached to someone taking up that prize. Please ensure that your description is accurate as Rogavi cannot be held responsible for any misleading information about the prizes offered.
What if my chosen charity is not in the drop-down menu? Rogavi is currently working with a selected number of charities and those are what you see on the drop down list. If there is a charity you would like to support and you do not see it please contact us.
Donating cash If I donate directly to the charity how much goes to the charity?2.5% is our fee for donations, including transaction fees and Gift Aid reclaim. This is half the cost of most donation services on the market today.
